Dancing With the Trees
Summer trees are joyous,
Exuberant in their leaves.
Buoyant in the breeze,
Nurtured in the earth,
They toss their offerings to the sky,
What do they care of our soul searchings?
Yet they offer us a promise,
An invitation to be gay.
“Dance with us today,
Hear the music in the wind.
Dance for yourselves in joy.
Be with us in this moment,
Exhaust yourselves with laughter.
And while you do, remember,
Reach out your arms to hold
The sorrowful, the lost.
The dark ones and the dying.
For the world is always turning,
And some day they’ll dance for you.”
